My Greanleaf Dollhouse

There is a mysterious house on the corner…

My friends and I are building a replica of a mysterious house in New Gotham.

I picture that this house is named Elderstone.

Elderstone is rumored to be haunted. No one has lived in it since the Great Depression, and no one can recall what its last occupants looked like, what they did for a living or where they went. They vanished off the face of the earth. The house is protected by magical wards that dispel any attempt at gaining access. It can’t be destroyed. It can’t be bought, and it can’t be sold. It just sits there, looming on the corner of Grendel and Main, like a Victorian relic. There are rumors that several keys exist to the house. Only one is fated to enter and learn its secrets. Who will it be?

Nathaniel Hawthorne hadn’t seen it when he wrote his classic House of the Seven Gables, but indeed our mansion has seven peaks, a wrap-around porch, two balconies, and two bay windows. you’ll wish you were building a full-scale version. The ten large rooms are accessed easily with a corner opening, removable roof section, and a lift-off turret atop the secret tower chamber. Topped off with lovely gingerbread trim, this house is truly a gift from the heart. The all-wood dollhouse goes together with tab and slot construction that requires only glue to complete assembly. Finish and furnish this heirloom-to-be to meet your heart’s desire. It is unpainted inside and out, letting you express your own personal decorating tastes. (From Greeleaf Dollhouse Website)

Where do I get my materials?

I will link to any item I’ve purchased online.

Who is helping me build the dollhouse?

The Artist – You’ll recognize immediately that this eccentric individual is my boyfriend. He is also an incredible visual artist and he inherited an affinity for carpentry from his father. Next to me, he’s in charge of a lot of the technical nuts and bolts and most of the detailed painting.

The Tiny Dragon – My leather sister and my first mate. She is my tea drinking partner and an avid knitter. When she’s not knitting, she’s sewing or reading or growing an ecosystem in her apartment. She’s the design help and the gal in charge of all the linen in the house (like curtains and bedding.)

The Viking – Readers will recognize this character as my now ex-husband. We are still best friends to this day, and we’ve retained the kind of closeness that only siblings are lucky enough to have. He’s in charge of lending a helping hand whenever someone needs him to put his finger somewhere or hold something.

Contest details and Other Dirty Details

Elderstone Keys

Anytime I host a contest, I give away keys to Elderstone. The person who collects ten of them is fated to own the house. Among their keys, they’ll have the mystical key that opens the door. As Elderstone’s guardian, I will bring the house to whoever that lucky person is. If I can’t ship the house with carrier pigeons, I’ll bring it to you. That’s right, I’ll bring the house to you. On the off chance that you live between dimensions and it’s impossible for me to make the trip, I will send you a complete dollhouse kit. (That’s a prize worth over 500 USD.)
